Iron Man!
I am really excited about the new Iron Man movie that is coming out tomorrow. They are doing a few early showings tonight, if you want to catch it earlier.
Iron was originally created in 1963 by Stan Lee, writer Larry Lieber, and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby, and first appeared in Tales of Suspense 39.
His official backstory has been redone a number of times over the last forty years, but generally it involves genius billionaire playboy Tony Stark getting injured and captured in a foreign country. He then is driven to invent a armored suit to allow him fight his way free despite his injuries. I do not know which bodily injury they are going with in the movie, but by the trailer, I am suspecting the damaged heart.
Based on the various versions of Tony Stark I have seen, I think Robert Downy Jr. has nailed this role. He seems to be diving right in and showing us how strong an actor he really is and that is really exciting. He is going to own this franchise, assuming he wants it. And by the latest reports, he does!
What makes you think you could get it up for another one?' Are you kidding me? We're just getting started here.
If they can manage to keep the Hulk from being sucktastic, of which i have my concerns, then, along with XMen and Spidey, Marvel may well be on the right track for a Universe of movies to play with. The crossover potential , if handled well, is staggering.
Needless to say I am very stoked about this movie, and even though it will mean taping Lost, the lovely Geek Wife and I will be heading up to AMC Quail to see it at 8pm. Tweet me if you have any intentions of going then.
